Mark Yokoyama served for 31 years in multiple police departments and municipalities in Southern and Northern California. Over the course of these years he worked varied enforcement, investigations, supervisory and command assignments and positions and served the last 8 years of his policing career as the Chief of Police in the City of Cypress (Orange County, CA) and the City of Alhambra (Los Angeles County, CA). Throughout his policing career Yokoyama has been involved with criminal investigations of varying degrees including high profile murder investigations. His experiences also include extensive internal affairs, administrative, civil and workplace investigations, including background and EEO investigations in the municipalities he has worked for. His background, training and experiences include security assessments and policy and procedure reviews. Professionally he has been credited for implementing contemporary policing practices and policies and has received awards and national/international accolades for his progressive and contemporary use of technology in effort to build police community relations and best practices in policing. During this time period Yokoyama has also served as a consultant to public and private organizations on public safety, security, investigations, and risk management needs.
Mark Yokoyama concluded his public service career as the City Manager for the City of Alhambra in Los Angeles County where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of ten City departments, including municipal Police and Fire Departments.
Yokoyama holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California and California State University Dominguez Hills and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of La Verne. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, P.O.S.T. Command College, and the Senior Management Institute for Police. Yokoyama is on staff to several local community colleges in Southern California as a lecturer and is also the Past-President of the California Peace Officers Association (CPOA). Professionally he is a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the California Police Chiefs Association .
Yokoyama is a licensed California Private Investigator (PI 188390) and serves as Corporate Security Adviser to local, national and international corporations.
